5 Animated Shorts for Teaching Literary Concepts & Notice and Note Signposts

Short films are great ways to teach literary concepts, figurative language and Notice and Note Signposts.  I have pulled some of my favorite short animations with the help of the Jacob Burns Film Center.

Fridge Princess

This is a great short to use as a metaphor for the revision and editing process of writing.

A Kiss, Deferred

This memoir touches on so many elements from memoir, point of view, ah ha moments, contrasts and contradictions, flashback, and memory moments.

You Look Scary

This short gem of a film plays on color and character to emphasize point of view and contrasts and contradictions.

Mend and Make Do

A fascinating stop motion animation, is all a memory moment and words of the wiser.

Again, another good short animation for teaching point of view, conflict, contrasts and contradictions, and a ha moments.
